Area prep baseball roundup: Winner/Colome advances and will host regional

WINNER—Winner/Colome jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings and defeated Chamberlain/Kimball/Lyman 11-1 in a Region 4B East Division playoff game on Tuesday in Winner.

Jackson Kinzer and Nick Lantz each had two hits and two RBIs, while Riley Calhoon, Carter Brickman, Oscar Pravecek, Jeremiah Yeaman and Dalton Baker each had a hit and an RBI. Ty Bolton, who had a double, picked up the win on the mound. Bolton allowed one run off four hits with five strikeouts and two walks in six innings pitched.

For C/K/L, Caden Lenz took the loss, allowing eight runs (three earned) off eight hits with five stirkeouts and one walk in four innings pitched. Jazz Dominguez had two hits and scored the lone run, while Javen Holan and Lenz each had one hit.

The Royals (11-0) will host the Region 4B tournament on Monday at Leahy Bowl in Winner. C/K/L ends its season at 3-8.

Baltic 5, Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery 4

BALTIC—The Hanson/Bridgewater-Emery Ducks were eliminated by the Baltic Bulldogs in the Region 3B West Division high school baseball playoffs on Tuesday.

The Ducks built a 4-0 lead after the fifth inning, but the Bulldogs surged ahead with a five-run sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Baltic's Elliot Haux hit a bases clearing double for the go-ahead runs.

For the Ducks, Jonah Hofer had a two RBI single and Dylan Gerlach also drove in a run. Hofer took the loss, pitching 5.1 innings, scattering four hits, giving up five earned runs and striking out four batters. The Ducks finish the season 3-6.

Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney 1, Gregory 0

PLATTE—Dylan Mohnen scored on a wild pitch and Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney edged Gregory in the Class B high school baseball playoffs on Tuesday.

Mohnen drew a leadoff walk to start the bottom of the ninth inning. After advancing to second on a bunt, Mohnen moved over to third on a Cole Nachtigal sacrifice fly. Mohnen then scored the game-winning run and broke the 0-0 tie on a wild pitch.

For the Honkers, Kory Peters finished 2-for-4, while Mohnen, Nachtigal, Chandler Fredericksen and Payton Foxley all had a hit apiece. Mohnen pitched seven innings, striking out six batters and striking out four batters.

For Gregory, Max Klundt, Cade Fortuna, Dustin Frank, Matt Sinclair and Hunter VanNewinhuis all had hits. Blake Boes struck out 12 batters, gave up six hits and zero runs.

The Honkers will play Winner/Colome in the Region 4B East Division title game on Monday in Winner.
