LETTER: Another great year for firefighter school in Mitchell
To the Editor,
A little road construction and minor detour did not keep the firefighters, families, instructors, and vendors from all over South Dakota from coming to Mitchell. On behalf of the South Dakota Firefighters Association Board of Directors, SD Firefighters Auxiliary, and the firefighters attending State Fire School 2018, "Well done, Mitchell!"
This was the second consecutive year fire school was held in Mitchell on the Mitchell Technical Institute campus. And just as we hoped, it was much easier this year. The MTI staff and Convention and Visitors Bureau and volunteers from James Valley Community Center had registration items ready for us. The Mitchell Fire Department provided equipment for classes and a training session for the Auxiliary. The area and local businesses hotels, and restaurants are great to work with to provide items for Fire school.
We are looking forward to coming back to Mitchell June 6-8, 2019, as well as, 2020 and 2021. We hope to develop more working relationships with businesses to entice fire school attendees to see all Mitchell has to offer.
We are looking forward to returning in June 2019, 2020 and 2021. With or without the road construction!
Charlie Kludt, President
South Dakota Firefighters Association
