School says teacher hospitalized after dog attack

A third-grade teacher at Mitchell Christian School was reportedly hospitalized last weekend after a dog attacked her and injured her hands.

According to information provided by the school, Alisa Thill was taken to an Avera facility in Mitchell and later to Sioux Falls for surgery following the attack, and it is not currently known when Thill will be released from the hospital, and the school is looking for a long-term substitute.

Thill's daughter was reportedly also injured, but was treated and released from the hospital.

Mitchell Christian School Superintendent Gary Cookson could not be reached for comment.
