G3 Canada to build another elevator: This one in Carmangay, Alberta

G3 Canada Ltd. will build a new grain elevator near Carmangay, Alberta, about 90 miles south of Calgary.

The elevator, with a capacity of 42,000 metric tons, is expected to open in 2020. Construction is scheduled to begin this year.

The new facility will feature “high-efficiency technology” that will allow it to load 134-car trains “in a matter of hours,” G3 Canada said in a written statement.

The elevator will be on the east side of Highway 23 and on the CP Rail line.

"G3 Carmangay is designed to save farmers' time and keep their grain moving to market," G3 CEO Don Chapman said in the statement.  "We're looking forward to being part of the community in and around Vulcan County, and showing farmers how our industry-leading speed and efficiency can benefit their business."

G3 Canada also is building previously announced elevators in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, and Mainstone, Saskatchewan, and recently opened new elevators near Melville, Saskatchewan, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Construction of a new G3 Canada export terminal in Vancouver is under way, as well. It’s scheduled to open in 2020.

G3 Canada, the successor to the former Canadian Wheat Board, is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It buys grain from across Canada, which it markets to customers worldwide.
